I chose George Seurat painting Grande Jatte or gray weather is what it is called.I chose this painting because he uses color, and texture to bring out the objects in the background for in and out of 3-D.He uses the color in a pattern for the object or thing he is painting. i think he does a good job with his paintings.

I chose the painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by George Seurat. I chose this painting because it was his first painting to be executed entirely in the pointillism technique. It's also his most famous painting. Seurat was the inventor of pointillism, he used tiny dots and primary colors to create an image.

Journal notes:
Seurat's paintings are different than any others artists style; his paintings are unique. His figures are mostly seen in profile or frontal position. He uses primary colors; also for value. He shows great balance in his painting.

Students- keep up the good work!!!

I'm an artist working in a style of Divisionism where pointillism is expanded into large cupped strokes of oil paint. Technique is called "Daubism" as the paint is applied in daubs with a palette knife.

I choose the painting Circus by George Seurat. I choose this piece because I liked how you could feel the movement and energy when you looked at it. Using pointillism he was able to show where the light was by using value. I liked how he arranged the painting, your eye seems to go in a circle following the ring line.

Journal notes ~
One of the ways he creates moods in his pieces is in the colors he used. In the circus painting the colors are warm and they blend together. In some of his other works the contrast between colors shows more and the outlines stand out.
